A Perfect Vaccum, 2011
Today I'm so excited to share with you the work of New Zealand born artist Jeremy Geddes. Geddes works in (GORGEOUS) photo-realistic paintings that walk the line of surrealism. Although he prefers to leave interpretations of his work to his viewers, his current works 'generate a tension between man-made environments in flux and the fragility of living bodies. Many of the works depict figures suspended in desolate urban landscapes or fractured environments that are in the process of falling apart.' (1)

Acedia, 2012
In October 2012, the Jonathan LeVine Gallery hosted Geddes' show Exhale, which was his US debut as a solo artist. Not only do Geddes' painting appear to have been crafted with beautiful precision, but the color pallet of blacks, cremes and muted colors is lovely. The pieces are thematically dark (almost apocalyptic), so viewers like myself who are intrigued by quiet, but thoughtful, work will be particularly entranced. In addition to the original paintings, many of the works appear to be available in print form via Geddes' web site.
Adrift, 2011
Geddes attended the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne Australia. In addition to his fine art, he has made a splash illustrating comic book covers and children's books, and has been awarded the Spectrum Gold Award, the Crichton Award and was recognized by a CBC Notable Book award. He's also a fellow blogger! Check his blog out here.

Thanks for letting me share this work with you! Enjoy!
