Slow Sundays: A weekend Re-Cap

As usual, we had a busy, fun filled weekend.

On Friday, the hubs and I attended the Fort Worth Antique and Art Show. We were in luck when we dropped by Richard Theiss' booth and discovered this beauty:

Mr. Theiss had picked it up at the estate sale of a former art professor and it was priced just right. It's dated 1973 and signed by someone named 'Alexander', so I see some research in my future. Here it is hanging in our living room:

It feels perfect in our space and I'm so thankful to have such a lovely piece of art for our house.

On Saturday morning, I hosted a tour for Midwestern State University at the museum.

English professor Dr. Todd Giles has been kind enough to bring his post-modern literature students to tour with me several times. They are always great students to work with and I was so impressed that they came to visit me during spring break!

Saturday afternoon, Cindy and I visited the Bernini exhibition at the Kimbell Art Museum

It's not my favorite art style, but I could certainly appreciate the artistry and discipline necessary to create these works. Cindy was really excited because she's traveling to Italy this fall and will see the resulting sculptures in real life. If you'd like to read a good review prior to visiting the show, check out this Star Telegram article

Saturday wrapped up with dinner at Blu Sushi and a stop by Avoca with our new friends Arielle and Eric. We met them through the Modern Contemporaries group, which we LOVE.

For 2013 we're really making a concerted effort to spend Sundays lounging around. We realized the hubs and I are so busy during the week that we've come to cherish our Slow Sundays, when we can just sleep the morning away and piddle around the house. The paper, a cup of coffee and warm blankets are all I need.

How'd your weekend go?

Oh wow! I made the blog! I'm famous! ;-) Thanks for Saturday - what a great day! Can't wait for our next outing - that Maven shop is calling my name.
